Hunter is located in northeastern Garfield County, with only county blacktop roads for access.  It has three churches, a few homes, and a grain elevator.  It's most historic building was the old bank {right center}, but after years of neglect, it was demolished just last year.  The old school building still stands, but it has been closed for years after it's merger with the Pond Creek Schools.

The center of town, where the water tower stands, is a beautiful, grassy park.

Hunter's history is typical for a farming community.  It once was an important marketing center, but with a dwindling population, it declined dramatically.
